Kim Sharma Husband, Marriage & Divorce Story

Kim Sharma

Kim Michelle Sharma is an Indian actress and model who worked in Bollywood and Tollywood as well. She did her first debut  in the 2000-romantic drama Mohabbatein for which she won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female. She was born on 21 January 1980 (age 46 years), Ahilyanagar. She performed in many hindi filmd named – Tum Se Achcha Kaun Hai (2002), Khadgam (2002), Fida (2004), Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story (2005) and Godfather (2007).

Here’s the complete story of Kim Sharma’s marriage, divorce, and life after.

Who is Kim Sharma? Early Life & Bollywood Journey

Born on 21 January 1980 in Ahmedabad, Kim Sharma moved to Mumbai to pursue modelling. She was signed by Elite Model Management and quickly caught the eye of Aditya Chopra. Her debut in Mohabbatein as Sanjana Paul made her an overnight sensation. She went on to do films like Fida, Tum Se Achcha Kaun Hai, and Khadgam, but none matched the success of her first film. By the late 2000s, she was stepping away from acting.

Meeting Ali Punjani: Love at First Safari

In 2010, Kim was on a safari trip in Kenya when she met Ali Punjani, a Kenya-based businessman and hotelier. Their connection was instant. Despite knowing each other for just about a week, they decided to get married. At the time, Ali was finalizing his divorce from his first wife, with whom he had three children.

Kim later described the romance as “straight out of a fairy tale.” She said in an interview:

“Marriage for me as well as my husband is a very private affair. After dating each other for a few months, Ali and I wanted to spend our lives together. It was all so sudden… It was almost straight out of a fairy tale.”

The Secret Wedding & Life in Kenya (2010)

The couple tied the knot in a very private ceremony in Mombasa, Kenya, in August 2010. Kim relocated to Kenya and took on the role of CEO for Ali’s chain of hotels. She largely stepped out of the Bollywood spotlight to focus on her married life. For several years, she enjoyed a low-key, luxurious life away from the cameras.

The Divorce: Betrayal, Heartbreak & Being Left Penniless (2016–2017)

After around six years of marriage, cracks began to appear. The couple separated in 2016, and the divorce was reportedly finalized in 2017. Reports claimed Ali left Kim for another woman after undergoing a major weight-loss transformation. Kim moved back to Mumbai, allegedly with little to no financial support.

In one of the most talked-about moments, Kim tweeted:

“When you spend the weekend raging at #Coldplay and come back to find out you’re penniless.”

She faced heavy media speculation about bankruptcy and financial ruin. Later, she addressed the rumors, calling many of them “rubbish” while quietly acknowledging her struggles. She had reportedly invested in Ali’s business and sold assets in Mumbai, only to return with nothing.

Life After Divorce: Relationships & Career Rebuild

Back in Mumbai, Kim slowly rebuilt her life. She was briefly linked to actor Harshvardhan Rane. In 2021, she went public with her relationship with tennis legend Leander Paes. They made it Instagram-official and were often spotted together, but the relationship ended around 2023, reportedly due to commitment issues. Kim deleted their couple photos from her profile.

Professionally, Kim made a strong comeback behind the scenes. She now serves as Executive Vice President at DCA Talent (a joint venture of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Cornerstone). She plays a key role in talent management and has been instrumental in shaping the career of internet sensation Orry (Orhan Awatramani).

In recent interviews (2025), Kim has spoken about viewing marriage as “a societal thing” today and emphasized her focus on independence and growth.

Lessons from Kim Sharma’s Journey

Kim’s story is one of highs and lows — from Bollywood stardom to a dreamy marriage, financial devastation, and eventual self-reinvention. It highlights the importance of financial independence, emotional resilience, and the courage to start over. Despite the heartbreak, she has emerged stronger, carving a successful niche in the entertainment industry.

Today, Kim Sharma maintains a relatively private life, focusing on work and personal peace. She remains an example of how one can rebuild after life’s toughest chapters.

Iran–US–Israel War Latest: Strikes, Retaliation & Updates – March 8, 2026

The United States and Israel intensified airstrikes across Iran on March 7–8, 2026, hitting oil storage depots, refining facilities, and remaining ballistic missile sites for the first time in the campaign. Iran launched retaliatory drones and missiles against Gulf neighbors including Bahrain, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, causing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. President Donald Trump stated Iran would be “hit very hard” and reiterated demands for unconditional surrender, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to neighboring states for some strikes (attributing them to miscommunication) but vowed continued defense.

Missile barrages from Iran toward Israel have declined sharply (down ~90% per US assessments), amid heavy degradation of launch infrastructure.
